Our History

Founding Story
Kamwenja Teachers’ College began in 1924 as a missionary teacher training centre under the leadership of Bishop Perlo and a dedicated team of missionaries. Initially designed to train teachers for local mission schools, the college quickly became a hub for educational leadership in the region.

Timeline of Key Milestones

  • 1924 – Founded by Bishop Perlo and missionaries.

  • 1938 – Officially named Kamwenja Teachers’ College.

  • 1958 – Management taken over by the Christian Brothers, strengthening academic and moral training.

  • 1970 – Transitioned to a co-educational institution, opening opportunities for women educators.

  • 1980s–2000s – Expanded facilities, introduced modern teaching aids, and diversified programs.

  • Present – Recognised nationally for producing all-round educators for both public and private institutions.
